Around the time I joined WWC, I had been questioning whether I wanted to stay a CS major. I was having a difficult time adjusting to the some of the classes I was taking and was feeling overwhelmed. The WWC members at the time welcomed me into the organization and made me feel part of a real community. I formed bonds and friendships that have lasted years later. I’m proud to have been part of an organization that cares so much about uplifting women and allies in the computing field. I was fortunate to serve in different officer positions over the years, which taught me a lot about taking on responsibilities and balancing extracurriculars with school work. Through the support of the organization, I was able to attend conferences like Grace Hopper, lead a session on how to get an internship, network with representatives from companies in the DFW area, and more. Overall it was a fantastic experience, and I miss those good times!

Being a member of this women-empowering student organization enables women (and male allies) interested in pursuing careers in computing and engineering to find a community of like-minded individuals. At this stage in these students' academic career, especially for women, it is incredibly important to receive the proper mentorship and community bonding to nurture these individuals and give them confidence to excel in the competitive field of tech, just as much (and potentially even more!) as their male counterparts. Women Who Compute successfully accomplishes this goal by providing excellent opportunities via technical workshops, themed socials, and professional networking events. I am beyond grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of Women Who Compute throughout my entire academic career, as it helped me develop and strengthen my technical and soft skills, as well as led me to some of the most driven, intelligent, and passionate women at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Being a part of WWC for 4 years, including 3 years of serving as secretary and being President, I have seen WWC transform into something incredible. This club is a platform for women AND men to feel more included and has developed into a safe space to include women from all different background in tech. Through WWC, I was able to make long-lasting friendships, obtain advice from my peers who were further along in my major, and meet with inspirational leaders from the tech industry. The events are really well structured, bringing in a variety of speakers, along with unique events; and the entire WWC leadership team only wants the best for you. Don't think twice about joining WWC!

Women Who Compute has greatly contributed to my growth academically, emotionally, and professionally. Being around other exceptionally talented female engineers has inspired me to give my all in everything I do. I not only gained technical skills by being the organization's web developer, but I've also gained confidence to achieve my goals in tech. I truly enjoyed being in this club, and I will miss my fellow officers when I graduate.
